For week 3 we were to work on Fifa World Cup analysis from 1930 till the last of 2022.

Data for this project was extracted from Wikipedia. Cleaning, transformation and visualization on Power Bi.

Insight Analysis

Analysis showed that there have been 22 World Cups so far, first one in 1930 won by Uruguay and the last one in 2022 won by Argentina. So far 964 matches have been played with a total of 2719 goals with 44 million people in attendance.

The total number of teams(countries) has moved from 13 playing 18 matches when first started to currently 32 playing 64 matches in the last tournament. The year

The last tournament which was last year recorded the highest number of goals (172 goals) while the least was recorded in the year 1930 and 1934. The Brazilian national team has scored the most world cup goals totaling 250, followed by West Germany with 232 goals.

Last World Cup 2022 had the most attendance with approximately 3.4 million people in attendance. The stadium with the highest attendance is Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil 1950 World cup 173850 persons. The match with the highest attendance is Brazil vs Uruguay in Maracana Stadium.
